Update on Severe Storms Wed Night/Thursday

May 2, 2018

SEVERE WEATHER:  Champaign-Urbana is in a 'Slight Risk' for severe thunderstorms on the Storm Prediction Center's Day 1 and Day 2 outlooks. Today's risk holds off until the overnight. While an isolated shower/storm is possible this afternoon, more widespread thunderstorms will move into the area after dark tonight. A few of these storms could become strong to severe with damaging winds the most likely threat.

Tomorrow/Thursday: Several clusters of thunderstorms will be possible in the area beginning during the early morning hour, continuing off and on into Thursday night. Again, damaging winds will be the primary threat, but large hail and isolated tornadoes are also possible, especially Thursday afternoon and evening. Details on timing will be more clear as we get closer to tomorrow... for now, know that thunderstorms will not occur during the entire day, but the *risk* of thunderstorms does continue through the entire day.
